Crafts
Our members learn a wide variety of crafts and skills that would have been vital to everyday life in Medieval England.
Dyeing
Using natural plants, such as woad, madder, and weld, we dye wool and linen to beautiful and bright colours.
Forging
The roaring fires of the forge give us a change to practice Medieval metalwork. Smithing would have been an essential part of any Viking settlement to create everything from swords to cooking pots.
Coin Minting
The making of coins was a very regulated skill and was a way that kings confirmed their power and influence over their territory.
Ecclesiastical Portrayals
Monks, Nuns, and priests would have been familiar faces in Saxon communities. In Viking lands, they would be in enemy territory, either as missionaries or as diplomats between kings.
Leather Working
Making everything from sheathes to shoes, leather workers would cut and craft durable hides into a myriad of useful household items.
Spinning
Using a drop spindle, women would twist together pieces of wool to make string for weaving and embroidery.
